How to attach roller blinds to plastic. Ergonomic roller blinds: how to fix, all installation methods. How to choose roller blinds for plastic windows by translucency

In modern apartments and houses, plastic windows have long been not uncommon, but rather a necessity, they are very different from their wooden counterparts, so the design must be chosen accordingly.

The style of plastic windows is rather businesslike, minimalistic, therefore, to create home comfort, you need to carefully consider the choice of curtains.

Roller blinds are an excellent choice, they have a number of advantages over conventional blinds and traditional curtains.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT ADVANTAGES OF FABRIC ROLLING SHUTTERS?

Roller blinds are simple and reliable in use, their mechanism is simplified to the maximum in order to increase the service life and reduce breakage - the curtain fabric is wound onto the base shaft by means of various lifting mechanisms. Such curtains are more practical to care for - it is not difficult to clean them, since the material is impregnated with a dust-repellent composition, unlike blinds, they do not have an infinite number of individual elements, which simplifies operation.

And aesthetically, these sunshade curtains are much superior to their predecessors - tulle and silk curtains, because grandmother's comfort can only be recreated with the appropriate wooden windows. One of the decisive advantages when choosing a light protection is the property of roller blinds to block out sunlight.

WHAT IS "LIGHT TRANSPARENCY OF CURTAINS"?

The light transparency of the material will allow slightly shaded, diffused sunlight to penetrate into the room. Such curtains will give a cozy atmosphere in the kitchen, or in the office, on the balcony, or loggia. For bedrooms and nurseries, draperies made of denser fabrics are more suitable, or with a double protection system, when the curtain fabric consists of two layers - one translucent, and the second more dense.

It is also possible to set these layers on two different shafts, which will allow you to choose which part of the window to shade.

TYPES OF SUN CURTAIN ON PLASTIC WINDOWS

For those whose windows face the sunny side of the yard, good density and high quality of the product are not a passing requirement. A type of curtain that completely blocks out light is called "blackout".

The fabric of such draperies:

Does not fade in the sun;

It has a reflective effect that protects the room not only from strong light, but also from the heat in the summer months.

Also, this fabric will appeal to those who like to sleep sweetly and calmly - 100% protection from sunlight will make it possible for even the most sensitive natures to dream peacefully.

A very effective and effective option is the option of day-night roller shutter curtains, or, as they are called in everyday life, a zebra. These curtains are distinguished by the most intricate mechanism that provides a different level of shading of the room, due to the alternation of horizontal translucent strips with opaque slats. You can adjust from full illumination to absolute shading of the room.

Such curtains will not only fit well into the interior of the room, but will also become an integral part of it, thanks to the beautiful performance and wide color choice.

Also for demanding customers who want to purchase a non-standard window design solution, there are multi-impressive roller blinds with lamellas made of wood, metal, fabric, plastic, located vertically. The combination of materials can be selected at will, the texture and design will depend on the imagination and requests of the client.

TYPES OF ROLSHTOR

In order for the curtains to harmoniously fit into your environment and not violate the design, you need to opt for the most suitable type of curtains.

- "Pleated curtains" - corrugated curtains, with antistatic impregnation. When folded, they gather into a neat accordion at the bottom or top of the window, depending on the mechanism.

Roman-style curtains, when raised, form horizontal, even, deep folds. They have a special, memorable design that you can repeat yourself - there are many simple lessons on creating Roman blinds with your own hands.

Roller blinds are perfect for any room in your home. For balconies, or other rooms where the dust level is high, and the windows often swing open, it is better to choose washable types of canvas, or resistant to frequent wet cleaning. You should also pay attention to the mounting and lifting mechanism.

SELECTION OF MOUNTING AND TYPE OF MECHANISM OF SUN CURTAIN

Rolshtora are fastened with brackets, or on double-sided tape. Even a girl can install a drapery with snaps, it is so easy to use. There is also a method of mounting on self-tapping screws, but this method is not suitable for everyone - it all depends on the type of plastic window.

The easiest and most affordable way to fix the curtain is liquid nails. This type of fastening will not harm the integrity of your window, it will not depressurize the package. But only lightweight structures can be fixed in this way; for cassette-type curtains, it is better to choose a more reliable mount.

For plastic, wooden and aluminum windows, there are two types of roll curtains - roll and roll-cassette. Rolled curtains belong to open types of curtains, where the block itself remains in sight. This is the simplest, cheapest and, as a result, the most common category of curtains.

Cassette roller blinds are assembled into a compact cassette-type cornice, they are ideal for reclining sashes, as the canvas is fixed in guides, which leaves no gaps for sunlight to penetrate.

FASTENING CURTAIN TO PLASTIC WINDOWS HANDMADE

For an aesthetically flawless and neat look, the best way to fasten curtains is with latches.

To perform this simple operation, you will need a snap mechanism and double-sided adhesive tape.

First, the attachment point on the window and the latch itself must be degreased

Then we measure the required amount of double-sided tape and cut it off, attach the latch to the window on it. This will allow

We mount and qualitatively fix the holders in the grooves of the latch.

We insert a curtain fabric on the shaft between them.

And the last crucial stage is the installation of a spike with a gear for the chain mechanism on the shaft.

A variety of colors, prints, high-quality materials for the manufacture and design of roller blinds will allow you to have no doubt about the correctness of the choice made, which is easy to verify by looking at the photo of curtains for plastic windows. Now the plastic window will not be an eyesore with its simplicity due to the variety of design solutions in decorating modern curtains.

And the fastening of these practical highlights of the interior will surprise you with its ease and speed.

Roller blinds for plastic windows in a modern interior replace the usual curtains and tulle. After all, in addition to ease of use and care, they are a creative solution for window design. A wide variety of colors and textures allows them to harmoniously fit into the design of any room.

Especially well this type of curtains is suitable for small rooms, where curtains on ordinary cornices will definitely not be appropriate, for example, on or in the office.

Roller blinds are a fairly simple design. The fabric web is fixed and wound onto the holder shaft. Using the lifting mechanism included in the kit, you can raise and lower the curtains to the desired height.

Sometimes roller blinds are called fabric roller blinds or roller blinds. Derived from the famous Roman blinds, but made of composite materials, with an improved mechanism, they have become a new trend in the design of plastic windows.

Roller blinds can act as a complete decorative element, and can also complement traditional curtains, protecting them from fading and destruction of the fabric structure from the bright sun.

These curtains are very compact, as they are attached to the window opening. Fixed very close to the glass, they reliably block the luminous flux and provide a favorable atmosphere in the room even in the July heat.

Do not accumulate dust, they are easily cleaned with a damp sponge.

Varieties of roller blinds

Roller blinds differ in the type of fastening system, it can be open or closed. In an open system, a shaft with curtains is attached to the window frame or directly to the frame. Strings are the regulating mechanism. The closed system is an aluminum box that hides part of the assembled web. The movement of the curtains takes place on aluminum guides.

To prevent the fabric from deforming, the bottom of the curtain is fixed on a decorative bar.

Also, roller blinds differ in the principle of operation of the lifting mechanism. It can be manual - it is a cord or a chain, or automatic - the height of lifting and lowering the curtains is regulated by a remote control.

Roller blinds are perfectly integrated into the Smart Home system.

Roller blinds are classified into the following categories:

- "mini" system

This is the simplest and most budgetary type of traditional roller blinds. Thanks to their compact design, these blinds are a great option for small windows. They are raised and lowered by a manual mechanism using a chain. They are easy to install and remove.

- cassette roller blinds

In these curtains, the shaft with the canvas fixed on it is placed in a compact box, which can be matched to the color or texture of the frame. When rolled up, the curtain is almost invisible. Some cassette roller blinds have a spring device that adjusts the length of the curtain. The mechanism can be controlled both manually and remotely using the remote control. Such a system is much more beautiful and practical than an open one, but the price for it will be higher.

- Lovolight system

It is used on large windows, panoramic windows up to 7 meters wide and 6 meters high. Curtains are mounted under the ceiling and unfold to the floor. The shaft can be opened or hidden in a box. They are usually controlled with a remote control.

- "day Night"

Also, this type of curtain is sometimes called "zebra". Curtains day-night harmoniously combine the advantages of roller blinds and blinds. Instead of a canvas of dense fabric, alternating stripes are used.

Half of the stripes are made of blackout fabric, the rest of the stripes are transparent. Between themselves, the strips are connected thermally using a special impregnation that provides antistatic and dust-repellent action. Curtains can have both open and cassette roll systems.

NOTE:

When different bands are superimposed on each other, the light ceases to fall. The desired degree of illumination is achieved by adjusting with a chain.

How to install roller blinds

... on plastic windows without drilling

Even a person who does not have special skills can install roller blinds on plastic windows with their own hands. Below is a step by step guide on how to do this.

First, prepare all the components for. Lay them out on the surface and assemble them into a structure, as indicated in the instructions. The brackets will hold the roller with the curtain on the sash.

The kit should contain parts that have a semicircular shape on one side. In one of them there is a round hole - a groove, and in the other protruding part - a spike. On the roller you will find the same mating elements.

How to fasten roller blinds of the "mini" class to the opening sash:

How to fix roller blinds of the "mini" class on a blank window sash

  1. To install roller blinds on non-opening window sashes, it is necessary to use special plates with grooves for fixing side brackets on them;
  2. Degrease the plates and stick adhesive tape on them;
  3. Fasten the side brackets to the plates;
  4. Install the chain mechanism on the gear, insert the brackets into the roller;
  5. Try on the assembled parts on the window, mark the places where the curtain will be attached;
  6. Degrease the attachment points of the plates with holders;
  7. Remove the protective tape from the adhesive tape and press the brackets to the previously marked places;
  8. Insert the chain mechanism from the side of the gear, and place the roller with the curtain into the fixed brackets;
  9. Check the operation of the mechanism.

How to attach cassette roller blinds

Usually manufacturers supply these curtains ready-made, so they are installed quickly and easily:

  1. Degrease the window surface and mark up;
  2. Try the box on the window. Remove the protective tape from the tape on the back of the box. With force, press the structure to the sash;
  3. Now you need to fix the guides. There are two installation options - on the inner or on the outer surface of the glazing bead. In the case of fastening on the inside, the curtains are pressed against the glass with one side.
  4. Stick the adhesive tape on the guides, after degreasing the surface;
  5. Remove about 40 mm of the protective strip from the adhesive tape. Install the guide in the box and to the glazing bead;
  6. While pressing the guide against the window frame with one hand, continue to remove the protective one with the other hand;
  7. Next, you need to properly press the guide to the glazing bead. Using the steps above, secure the second guide to the other side;
  8. Insert the curtains into the guides. Put on the locking ring on the chain mechanism, which does not allow the chain to slip along the gear;
  9. Check the correct installation by opening and closing the shade.

How to care for roller blinds

IMPORTANT: Roller blind fabrics must not be washed in a washing machine!

  • — For washing, use soft sponges and neutral detergents. It is better to dry the wetted fabric in a straightened form so that there are no folds left on the material;
  • - to cope with the stain, try an ordinary erasing eraser;
  • - usually the fabric of curtains does not need ironing. If small wrinkles remain after drying, you can use the iron at the lowest temperature and only through a damp cloth;
  • - Do not smoke near the curtains. The smell is quickly absorbed into the material, not to mention the holes from the ashes;
  • - To prolong the life of the lifting mechanism, lubricate it with oil.

Roller blinds for plastic windows: all about the design, methods of fastening and caring for the canvas

For several years now, a couple of windows in my house have had horizontal blinds. Everything about them suits me, except for tedious care: washing each lamella is a tedious and long task. I'm thinking of replacing them with cassette roller blinds for plastic windows.

In order not to buy a pig in a poke and not get confused when ordering, choosing the design or color of the curtains, I decided to study them in advance. If this is relevant to you, join us - we will figure it out together.

Choosing a design

Rolled curtains are called, which are a flat canvas wound on a shaft when a light opening is opened. There are no assemblies, ruffles and draperies here, the style is minimalistic.

But it is he who attracts many, as he ideally suits many modern styles in the interior, does not eat up space and does not require special care.

The question of how to choose such curtains must be approached not only from an aesthetic point of view. Of great importance is their design, and the ability of the fabric to transmit light. Well, the price, of course.

Let's start with the design features.

Cassette

There are two main cassette designs of roller blinds on the domestic market: UNI 1 and UNI 2. They have in common that the winding shaft is hidden in a cassette - a closed plastic box with guides fixed along the window frame. The edges of the fabric are tucked into them, so they fit snugly against the sash, regardless of its position.

  • UNI 1 - this is a model in which the guides are installed between the glazing beads of the window frame. Its use is impossible if the glazing beads have a small height (less than 4 mm) - there will simply be nothing to fix the guides to. And if this succeeds, then the fabric sheets will stick to the glass. In addition, the glazing beads themselves reduce the area of the luminous flux.

  • UNI 2 differs from the previous model in that the guides are attached to the sash frame. They do not block the gap, keeping its dimensions, and the curtain itself is located at a distance from the glass and does not stick to it.

These designs are good because when the curtain is completely lowered, they do not let in light from the street, since the edges of the canvas are tucked into the guides. There is no gap between them and the window frame.

Cassetteless

More simple the Mini system has neither a cassette nor rails. Only a shaft and an elementary chain control system for lifting and lowering the web. If the curtain is installed on a flap, then magnets are also installed on the frame below. They keep the canvas from sagging by attracting the metal bottom bar to them.

The choice in favor of this system is often associated with the fact that it costs much less than cassette analogues, and it is easier to install it. Many do it by hand.

Standard

This option is very similar to the previous one structurally. The difference is that standard roller blinds can be installed not only on plastic windows in the opening, but also mounted on the wall or ceiling above the window.

One curtain may well cover the entire window. Unlike mini, designed for only one leaf. But since the weight of a wide canvas is much higher, and the distance between the attachment points is farther apart, the shaft in this model is made of a larger diameter.

The standard version has many advantages:

  • No need to think about how to measure the correct length and width. The main thing is that the canvas closes the opening, and it can protrude beyond its limits at any distance.
  • You can do without measurers, manufacturers and installers, since you can choose the size of roller blinds for your window in many stores such as Leroy Merlin and other hypermarkets with goods for home and repair. And it is always cheaper than a custom-made product.
  • You can mount them on the wall, on the ceiling and even between the walls or in a doorway, turning the curtain into a door or a mobile partition for space zoning.

With two canvases

Double roller blinds are of two types:

  • With two or more canvases of different types, which can be exactly one after another or offset. For example, one is transparent and the other is dense. They move up and down independently of each other, each has its own control unit.

  • With two layers of fabric consisting of strips with different light transmission. They are also called "zebra" or "day-night". The control unit includes a mechanism by which these strips are displaced relative to each other. If opaque and transparent are arranged parallel to each other, an alternating striped pattern is obtained, and diffused light enters the room through the transparent areas. If the stripes are shifted so that they are staggered, you can get complete shading of the room.

How to hang such curtains, you decide - they are compatible with both cassette and cassetteless designs.

Types of paintings

To choose practical, beautiful curtains that suit your interior and meet your requirements, you need to know what materials are available for making curtains. The main parameters are the type of fabric and its ability to transmit light.

As for the color or pattern - this is already a matter of taste. There are simply no restrictions here, you can order a canvas of any shade. Monophonic, with a print, an ornament and even with a photo printing.

What fabrics are used

Such curtains should be resistant to fading, not wrinkling and not attracting dust and dirt, because they cannot be washed in the usual way.

Not many fabrics meet these requirements, therefore, for the manufacture of rolls, they most often use:

  • Polyester 100%. This is the most common option due to the practicality of the fabric, which has antistatic and reflective properties, a low degree of shrinkage.

  • Polyester mixed with other fibers- viscose, cotton, satin. Such combinations allow you to create an interesting structure of the canvas and achieve a more natural look.
  • Screen- a fabric consisting of two-thirds of polyvinyl chloride and one-third of fiberglass. It is very durable, moisture resistant, keeps its shape perfectly - does not stretch or shrink.

  • bamboo fiber. Valued for naturalness, moisture resistance, antibacterial properties. It can also be combined with other fibers for an exclusive look.

Light transmittance

Among the fabrics we offer for the production of roller blinds, you can find materials with different ability to transmit sunlight. They can be divided into 4 groups:

  • Transparent are an alternative to traditional tulle. They almost do not interfere with the penetration of light from the street.

  • translucent depending on the color of the fabric and its density, they create diffused lighting of varying degrees of brightness in the room.

  • Semi-darkening capable of blocking up to 70% of the light that seeks to enter the house. Their professional name is dimout.

  • Completely blackout or blackout - they will not let the sun's rays through at all, since they are absolutely opaque.

Mounting methods

The most familiar and logical way to install fasteners for any curtains is to drill the brackets with self-tapping screws. But it is very undesirable to “leak holes” in the frames of plastic windows, since they have sealed heat-saving chambers inside.

Therefore, the developers of roller blinds that are attached directly to the double-glazed window have come up with other installation methods that make it possible to do without drilling.

On glue

This method is mainly used for fastening lightweight mini-curtains without a cassette. Anyone can handle it.

Image Step-by-step instruction
t Step 1

Degrease with acetone the surface to which the landing part of the bracket will be glued.

If the frame is cold, it is advisable to warm it up with a hairdryer.

Step 2

This part is already equipped with an adhesive layer. You just need to remove the protective film from it.

Step 3

Immediately after the release of the adhesive surface from the protection, we glue the part to the predetermined place, firmly pressing it to the surface.

Step 4

We insert brackets into the base, to which the shaft of the roller blind will be attached.

This method has several drawbacks. The main one is the low reliability of fastening. Over time, glue or double-sided tape ceases to perform its functions. And if you need to clean the canvas, then before removing it, you will have to tear off the brackets from the frame, and then glue it again.

For hanging brackets

Plastic cap brackets are much more convenient than Velcro. And much more reliable. But they can only be used on opening or flap doors.

Image Step-by-step instruction
Step 1

Open the sash to release its top edge.

Step 2

Put on the bracket.

Step 3

Insert the product shaft into the brackets.

For clamp brackets

Such metal brackets can withstand a lot of weight, so they are used to mount heavy roller blinds. They are securely attracted to the frame with the help of a movable foot.

How to care for roller blinds

A huge plus of these products is also that the fabric is impregnated with special compounds that do not allow dirt to penetrate into the structure of the fabric. Whatever raw material it was made from. Therefore, the problem of how to wash or clean roller blinds is not the worst.

Depending on the degree of contamination, the following methods are used:

  • Dry cleaning using a vacuum cleaner with a special nozzle.

  • Stain removal done with a damp melamine sponge or a regular school eraser. If these do not help, you can use a natural-based stain remover that does not contain solvents. To do this, the canvas must be carefully removed, laid on a flat surface, treated with a stain, and then washed off with a damp sponge. In this case, do not rub the fabric too actively.

  • Wet cleaning often needed for kitchen curtains, as grease stains, soot, traces of tea brewing or other products may appear on them. For it use neutral liquid detergents. For example, dishwashing liquid. The canvas is removed, laid horizontally and gently wiped with a sponge with a product applied to it. You can wash it off with a clean sponge or shower. The main thing is that there are no divorces left, which will be very noticeable in the light.

To prevent the product from stretching, it is better to dry it also in a horizontal position, spreading it out on a flat surface.

If the contamination is fresh and insignificant, it is quite possible to do just a damp cloth without any cleaning products.

Conclusion

In my opinion, such decor for windows is worthy of the highest praise. It is practical, beautiful, versatile. Hanging roller blinds on plastic windows without drilling is a matter of a few minutes. They save space and allow you to use the entire area of the window sill.

The choice of roller blinds is almost limitless. Having chosen the appropriate color, size, transparency, you have to decide how the design will be fixed. It depends on this choice how comfortable it will be to use the curtains, how long they can be used.

This article describes the various installation methods: on plastic and wooden window frames, on the wall, ceiling. Each method has its own characteristics. We hope that the information in the article will help you find a roller blind that will work properly and please the eye for many years.

The roller blind can be held on a special fastener or on adhesive tape. Can be fixed:

  • on the window profile;
  • to the slope inside the window opening;
  • above the window opening on the wall;
  • to the ceiling.

The choice depends on the size of the canvas, the characteristics of the room, personal preferences.

It is preferable to hang massive rolls on special fasteners that are held on self-tapping screws. Small, lightweight structures will hold on to a special adhesive tape or double-sided tape without any problems. As a rule, in the package with the finished roller blind there are 2 different mounting kits, and the buyer chooses at his discretion. When ordering for individual sizes, you can choose fasteners according to the manufacturer's recommendation.

It is advisable to fasten large massive rollers to the ceiling. With a ceiling mount, structural deformation is less likely due to the rational distribution of the load (the center of gravity will be under the screws, and not to the side of them). For ceiling mounting, a niche can be provided.

Visually hide the dimensions of a large roller will help fastening to the slope. Once you decide to fix the roller blind to the slope, make sure that the slope material can withstand the load. For example, there will be no problems with fixation on plastered and putty slopes. Slopes from sandwich panels will not hold self-tapping screws.

A small window, especially without a window sill, will look stylish with a curtain attached to the wall above the window opening.

Light and compact rolls can be fixed on the window frame. This solution will allow you to make the most efficient use of the surface of the window sill.

IMPORTANT! When choosing a fastener, make sure that the windows open and close freely.

When using rolled sheets with curtains and curtains at the same time, it is important to provide enough space for all window decor elements.

Guide rails for roller blinds significantly extend their lifespan. They provide movement without displacement and deformation.

Mounting on plastic windows

For plastic windows, fastening without the use of self-tapping screws is preferable, since subsequently, when deciding to remove the decor, it will be problematic to mask the holes.

If for some reason you decide to install the structure on plastic windows using self-tapping screws, our recommendations are detailed in the next section on mounting on wooden windows. The only feature will be that before screwing the screws into the plastic frame, it is better to drill holes in it with a drill.

Without drilling into the plastic profile, roller blinds can be fixed using spring brackets or plates, which are fixed with a special adhesive tape or double-sided tape.

Each model of curtains may have separate features, which will be necessarily reflected in the accompanying instructions. Perhaps the most significant difference will be the choice of fastening depending on whether the sash opens. For opening doors, spring brackets are used, for deaf doors - plates. However, the principle of fastening without drilling is the same for all canvases and is as follows:

  1. We prepare all the components from the curtains and a pencil, as well as in the absence of a special adhesive tape in the kit, double-sided tape.
  2. Fasteners and the surface of the profile on which the roll will be attached must be thoroughly washed, degreased with alcohol and dried.
  3. We glue the pieces of adhesive tape on the fasteners, leaving a protective film on the side that will be in contact with the window profile.
  4. We assemble the design of the roller blind completely.
  5. We fix it on the window with our hands, without gluing it to the tape.
  6. We mark with a pencil the boundaries of the fasteners (brackets or plates).
  7. We remove the structure from the window, disconnect the roller with the canvas.
  8. We remove the protective film from the fasteners and firmly press the fasteners into the marked place.
  9. We fix the roller in the holders.
  10. We check whether the mechanism works properly: open and close the curtain.

Mounting on wooden windows

For wooden windows, it is preferable to fasten roller blinds to self-tapping screws. They provide high structural strength. In case of refusal from them, after the screws there are no sticky traces that require great effort to remove.

Holes in the tree are puttied easily and without a trace. Having decided to install a roller blind on wooden windows using double-sided tape, you can read our recommendations in the previous section.

The principle of installation on self-tapping screws:

  1. We lay out all the components from the curtains on a flat surface, make sure that there are self-tapping screws in the kit. If not, we'll get ours. You will also need a drill and a pencil.
  2. We assemble by connecting the roller with fasteners.
  3. We attach the structure to the window profile, without screwing anything, we fix it with our hands.
  4. Mark the holes with a pencil. They must match the holes, that is, you mark them as through a stencil.
  5. We remove the structure from the window.
  6. We disconnect the fasteners, apply them to the marked place, fasten them with self-tapping screws.
  7. We put the lifting mechanism on the gear.
  8. We make sure that everything works properly: we lower and raise the curtain.

Wall mounts

Roller blinds are attached to the wall only with self-tapping screws.

  • We prepare all parts of the curtains, self-tapping screws with dowels, a pencil, a level, a puncher (maybe a drill will be enough).
  • We assemble the structure.
  • We put it on the wall.
  • Mark the holes. It is advisable to use the level. While the installation on the window frame occurs almost along the edge of the frame, and it itself can be considered a level, it is recommended to align the roll on the wall and mark it according to the level.
  • We drill holes according to the size of the screws. With a high degree of probability, you will have to use a puncher, especially in a multi-storey building. As a rule, windows are located in load-bearing walls. They often contain metal fittings. The probability of getting a drill into the fittings increases significantly if you drill a hole directly above the window where the jumper is located. An ordinary drill will not cope with such a task.
  • We hammer the dowels into the holes.
  • We fasten the fasteners to the screws.
  • We put the chain mechanism on the gear.
  • We hang the roller in fasteners.
  • We check the operation of the mechanism, lower and raise the roller blind.

Fastening without drilling

The method of decorating a window with roller blinds without drilling involves the use of adhesive tape. This mount is suitable for windows with plastic frames. In rare cases, the roll can be fixed on the upper slope of the window. For this, the slope must be made of PVC.

IMPORTANT! Attaching to a PVC slope is associated with some problems:

  • the slope may not be perfectly even, and a deviation from the level even by a couple of millimeters causes the entire roll to skew, which can cause damage to the edges; slope deformation can also occur as a result of the installation of a structure on it;
  • the quantity and quality of the adhesive tape must correspond to the weight; if the choice is wrong, the structure may fall.

Double-sided tape is able to hold the roller blind on a wooden window, but this is not rational. For wooden structures, a self-tapping connection would be more suitable.

Fastening to plastic frames is described in detail above in the 3rd section of our article; to wooden ones - in the 4th.

Roller blinds are attached to the ceiling with self-tapping screws, by analogy with the wall:

  1. We prepare all structural elements, self-tapping screws and dowels, a pencil, a perforator.
  2. We collect the curtain.
  3. Attach it to the ceiling.
  4. Mark the holes with a pencil.
  5. We drill them out.
  6. We drive dowels into them.
  7. We fix the fasteners in the holes with self-tapping screws.
  8. We put the chain mechanism on the gear.
  9. We fix the roller in the holders.
  10. We check how the mechanism works.

IMPORTANT! It is possible to fix the curtains on the ceiling only if it has sufficient strength (for example, concrete or wood). If the room has a stretch ceiling, it is advisable to choose a different installation method or wait for repairs and change the ceiling.

Common installation errors

Despite the simplicity of the design, typical errors occur during installation. Let's describe them so you can avoid them.

  • When choosing, it is important to remember that the width of the canvas is a separate characteristic, and the total width of the curtain is the distance from the edge of one connection to the edge of the second.
  • After selecting the position for installing the roll, lower the curtain and turn the window handles in all directions, open and close the windows. Very often, after installation, it turns out that the canvas interferes with the functionality of window handles or frames.
  • When choosing the installation position, it is necessary to take into account the full length of the canvas so that its top does not turn out to be raised unreasonably high, while the bottom does not close the window and freely transmits light.
  • When using adhesive tape, it is important to thoroughly clean and degrease the surfaces. Neglect of this rule significantly reduces the strength of the structure. It can collapse at the most unexpected moment.

Conclusion

Having considered the main ways of fastening a roller blind, let's summarize.

Intuitive choice is not enough. It is necessary to take into account:

  • design features of the room in general and the window in particular;
  • window material.

Each fastener has its own advantages and disadvantages, they are described in the article; when choosing, it is reasonable to weigh all the operating conditions.

The installation of massive roll structures is recommended to be carried out with someone from relatives or friends. It is difficult and inconvenient to hold a large roller alone, and most importantly, it is not clear how smoothly its installation turns out.

We hope the article did not leave you with questions regarding installation, and the process will give you pleasant and not time-consuming chores.
