This line for forming stacks and packages of lumber allows you to mechanize the formation of drying stacks and transport packages with automatic alignment of lumber along the length (transverse trimming).

Principle of operation

A stack of lumber is mounted on a floor conveyor by a loader. The lumber package moves along the floor conveyor to the stacking device. The stacker is a system of lifting forks with simultaneous overturning of the stack and layer-by-layer gravitational dumping of lumber onto the receiving chain conveyor. The conveyor takes a layer of blanks from the stack and dumps the blanks onto an inclined conveyor (hill).
Between the stacking device and the receiving conveyor, a belt conveyor can be additionally installed to receive interlayer pads falling from the stack
From the slide, the products are fed by the piece to the cross-cutting machine, on which the orientation and trimming of the workpiece is carried out. By chain conveyor, trimmed products are transferred to a stacking device, where a layer of blanks is formed by piecewise accumulation of a number of boards into a shield. The resulting shield on the retractable guides lays a layer of lumber on the lowering stacking forks.
Depending on the configuration, the stacker can be equipped with an interlayer lath-laying mechanism.
The formed package with lumber is lowered onto the outfeed floor conveyor, which takes the finished stack out of the stacking fork area and moves the products to the unloading point.

Batch trimmers are designed for preliminary trimming of lumber packages, slabs at sawmills, loading terminals, molding shops and lumber drying areas. Also, stack trimmers are often used for trimming and bucking round logs up to 1500mm in diameter.

Design features and advantages of package crosscut saws

Batch trimming machines are divided into two types:

  • Stationary batch cutting machines;
  • Mobile trimming machines.

Stationary machines have the following advantages:

  • High cutting accuracy due to fixation of the saw bar on both sides;
  • Massive desktop that eliminates vibration during operation;
  • Variable length of the working table, which increases the productivity and efficiency of the crosscut saw.

Mobile cross-cutting machines have the following advantages:

  • Do not require a specially prepared foundation;
  • They have a wheeled platform and small dimensions, which allows them to be used at loading terminals and easily moved around production.

Both types of machines have high productivity. The cutting speed reaches up to 2.5m2 per minute.

Batch trimming machines have a low cost and a simple design. To work on the machine does not require highly qualified personnel.

The tool of package cross-cutting machines is a tire with a chain. This tool has a high resource and a low price, and also does not require specialized sharpening machines.

When choosing a batch cutting machine, you need to pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • The maximum cross section of the end-faced package of lumber;
  • Lumber package length;
  • Productivity per year/month/shift/hour;
  • Temperature regime of equipment operation and operating conditions.

In 2018, we equipped this installation with a modern model of the ECH-3.Giant electric saw with a 3/8″ drive sprocket and chain, which made it possible to increase productivity and resistance to hardwoods. Another advantage of the installation is its versatility: if necessary, the saw unit can be turned into an ECH-3 hand tool with any bar length from 50 to 110 cm.

To obtain more accurate package dimensions, the trimmer can be optionally equipped with bilateral stabilization system tires and frame relative to the package. It looks like this:

This option has been in production since August 2018.

The frame of the bag cutter and the vertical guide bar on the opposite side are fixed with self-tapping screws on the bag, ensuring the accuracy of cutting to the specified size. In the process of sawing, the roller attached to the end of the tire moves along a given path.

An additional option costs 9,900 rubles. without VAT.

2. Batch trimming ECH-3.PT-1200. Since the roller reduces the useful length of the bar by 9-10 cm, we can complete the trimming machine with 120 cm tires for sawing 110 cm wide packages. This machine already includes a two-sided stabilization system.

Thanks to the rigid vertical bed and the high chain speed, high cutting accuracy is achieved. Here, “pancakes” are cut with a thickness of only three mm on all 18 logs lying in a pack.
